"Literacy matters more than ever!"

September is the official month for literacy. In partnership with Decoda Literacy Solutions we are participating in a province-wide campaign, "Sock It to Literacy", to raise awareness about the importance of literacy and funds to support local communities in facilitating their literacy programs.

For four years now, we have been donating part of the proceeds from our Merino Wool Socks to local literacy programs through Decoda Solutions. For every pair of our Literacy Merino Wool Socks sold, $1 goes towards local literacy programs.

“We used the funds to purchase new books for our 22 Bright Red Bookshelves!”

– Kamloops

Our belief in empowerment is what fuels our desire to support this cause. Marilyn Cobban, the owner and designer of Blue Sky Clothing Co., believes that empowerment is the start of everything. "Literacy is a key to success. If you don't know how to read, you can't succeed. Also, it is a matter of self-esteem. The act of building self-esteem is the foundation of setting people out for success." Blue Sky believes that it starts with lowering the rate of illiteracy for children and increasing other essential learning skills for families and adults in the community.

“Funds are going toward our monthly Family Literacy Night.”

– Commercial Drive

In our four years of partnership with Decoda, Blue Sky has sold over 30,000 Merino Wool Socks as part of the Socks for Literacy campaign. We are beyond happy to help raise funds that supply books, snacks, and other necessary items needed to facilitate literacy programs in communities across BC.

You can find our Merino Wool Socks for Literacy at all of our 9 stores across BC (locations listed below), and also on our website:
